An Ode to Louie Barletta and Fun Skateboarding.

This week, Thrasher/Viceland put out a video entitled, "Skateboarding Legend Louie Barletta". Now I know they're just recycling clips from King of the Road to get views, but I wasn't bothered too much , because any clips (even if they've already used them) of Louie nowadays, is a gift from the skateboarding gods.

The first time I saw a part from Louie was in his Enjoi "Bag of Suck" part. Barletta was doing tricks I'd never even thought of. It was like the first time I saw Chris Haslam or Daewon Song skate - I was amazed. All I wanted to do was go do some fun/weird shit on some familiar skate spots around town. To me, that's what makes the best skate parts though. Those are the videos that immediately make me go, "I have to go try that!"

After the part above, I was doing ollies to gaps to tail taps everywhere I went. A broken board wasn't the end of a sesh, it was a chance to make a funny video of trying to do some regular trick with a broken board. Some people just make skateboarding tricks look unattainable and that's great, but all of my favorite skaters make it look fun.

That's Daewon, Mullen, Haslam, Carlin, Brezinski, and of course Barletta. I have a bunch of other favorite skaters as well, but I like them for different reasons. These guys specifically make skateboarding so damn fun.

Having written this article, now I'm incredibly pumped to go skate. I'll leave you with one more video and if I'm being completely honest, Subject to Change is actually the first place I saw Louie DO HIS THANG. Check it out below and then go skate!
